Priyanka Chopra Interview : I have been a fighter all life

From a beauty queen to a pop sensation Priyanka Chopra has worked her way to top in bollywood today.  She is ranked among the most beautiful women in the world. She has not only charmed every one with her dazzling smile but the actress has made it to the Oscars list with her recent film Barfi.  She is working hard and putting in her best into her roles be it as a wrestler in Mary Kom  or Zoya Akhtar’s Dil Dhadakne Do.

 Q.We have heard you have turned a co-producer now with director Madhur Bhandarkar’s  Madamji?

I can’t talk about it as my deal has not been finalized. We will be making the announcements soon but I am excited with a lot of work.  For the time being I am busy with my films. I am busy shooting for Zoya Akhtar’s Dil Dhadakne Do and promoting my film Mary Kom.

Q.How was it working with brother sister duo Farhan Akhtar and Zoya Akhtar?

This is my third film with Farhan Akhtar after Don 1 and Don 2 and it’s a pleasure working with him.  He’s a great actor and a wonderful producer.  But yes this is my first film with Zoya and the first film with a woman director. I am super excited.  I have seen Zoya’s work and was always looking forward to working with her. I am making most of my opportunity. We had a great time shooting so far.

Q.What about your album you have released two singles, what next?

I have been busy shooting for my films and promoting this film. I will start shooting my next film soon.   Once I am free from these films I will concentrate on my albums. Until then I will not be able to pay any attention.

Q.Dil Dhadakne Do will be your first film with Zoya, was it different shooting with a female director?

I not want to make disparity between a male director and female director. “For me a director is a director. We need to stop the gender bias. Good films are being made so I don’t believe in male oriented or female oriented films or male or female directors.  It’s all in the mind.  It’s time we women stop making the disparity the others will follow.”

Q.Mary Kom has been a fighter in the boxing ring and a fighter in real life too, what about you?

I have been a  fighter all life.  I think we all have fighting instincts and survival instincts in some it  is prevalent. I think I have been a fighter all my life. Like Mary Kom I come from a small town and had nobody in the industry but yet made a place for myself. Whatever I am today is because of my fighter all my life.  Mary is a feisty and a strong woman.  I have always admired her and her life was very inspiring.

Q.Kareena recently said that promotions have gone overboard, do you also feel the same?

No, I don’t think so. After we have worked so hard it’s important to promote your films. Now we have the internet and television too. Yes they have gone overboard but it is the best for our film and I only too glad to go all out and promote my film.

Q.We will see you as a bride in Mary Kom, but what about your personal life, when are we going to see you as a bride?

I am happy and busy I am single and there’s no one in my life now. I hope that I meet a man who will sweep me off my feet and keep me happy in life.

Q.Tell us more about Mary Kom the boxer in real life?

In real life Mary Kom is just like every other girl who loves to dress up, wear nail polish and lipstick. I remember one particular day she came up to me and asked “Are there any dances in the film. I said no.  She said why not, I dance well and sing well too.  We have picked up the exact timelines and lot of incidents as well as aped her clothes,  her style and her personality for the role.

Q.Which other great personality would you like to play once again in your career?

I don’t follow trends.  I don’t just do films for the sake of it. Something in the script or the character has to appeal to me.

Q.We will be seeing you in an episode of KBC?

Everytime I am on the sets of KBC, I am excited.  I think two years back I had gone on the sets of KBC with Shah Rukh Khan. I will giving the proceeds of the show to the Red Brigade Self defense academy which teaches the art of self defence or martial arts to girls.
