‘Spiderman’ creator Stan Lee to make film on his Indian superhero ‘Chakra’
The legendary ‘Spiderman’ creator- Stan Lee is going Bollywood. After years of brainstorming, Stan Lee launched ‘Chakra the Invincible’ – his first Indian superhero comic character in 2011. He is the co-creator of superheroes like Spiderman, Iron man, X-men and Hulk. He is now planning to bring his Indian superhero on big screen. With many memorable stories already written, Chakra has already received mass appeal in Indian market.
Lee is in talks with Gill Champion from POW! Entertainment and Graphic India CEO Sharad Devarajan to adapt the story for a live action movie. They have been meeting leading producers, writers and directors from Bollywood for the same.
The ‘Chakra the Invincible’ comics revolve around an Indian teenager Raju Rai who lives in Mumbai. He is technology genius and is determined to utilize powers of science to unlock the secrets of human potential. Raju then eventually develops a suit that activates the mystical chakras of the body and uses it to be a superhero. He then vows to protect the people of Mumbai as Chakra.
The film is being developed with a grown up version of the character Chakra and is said to be little different than comics. Lee has revealed the first set of concept images of new version of Chakra through social media. Without stating any names from Bollywood, Lee confirms that he has no doubt that the individuals from Indian cinema will make this movie a massive hit in India and around the globe.
The preproduction of the project will start by the first quarter of 2015 and go into production by early 2016. The cartoon version of Chakra the Invincible was aired on Indian television last year and it was a hit. We hope this Bollywood movie will live up to the hype of being a ‘Stan Lee’ movie and proves to be a hero for both India and the world!
