Sneak Peak into the ‘Bigg Boss’ Contract

Reality show ‘Bigg Boss’ has a controversial contract. There is no scope for vagueness. This contract gives you a comprehensive insight of the most interesting clauses that the contestants have to follow. Take a sneak peek at some of the clauses

Clause 1.2 (a) – Signing amount

Every celebrity is paid a hefty check to join ‘Bigg Boss’ , which is billed within seven days of implementation of the contract. The amount signed is minimum in case the contestant is eliminated within the first week.

Clause 1.2 (b) – Weekly consideration

Next, participants are also given a weekly consideration,this means that contestant retained for more than 2 weeks is given consideration. This means the amount per week is paid once the contestant is eliminated. As told by a leading website contestant Tanisha Mukerjee from last season of ‘Big Boss’ had the highest weekly consideration of 8 lacs.

Clause 1.4 – Term of the contract

A prerequisite for ‘Bigg Boss’ contestant is to be available completely to Viacom 18 for the period of 117 days, of which approximately 100 days is for shooting inside the house and the rest 17 days for the preparation, promotion, marketing and promo shoots.

Clause 1.7 – Contestants cannot interfere in matters of editing and final cut of the episodes

No contestant has a say in the way the programming content is presented. Sonali Raut case and Veena Malik case have been some audacious examples from the past.

Clause 1.9 – Identity of the contestants

The contestants  do not have a right to know the other fellow mates .For example Minisha Lamba and Arya Babbar case says it all.

Clause 1.10 (b) [3] – Criminal convictions have to be notified to the makers

Celebrities are liable to intimate their criminal status to Viacom 18 if any. So, celebrities like Monica Bedi, Rahul Mahajan, Devender, Abbas Kazmi and Aseem Trivedi, who were criminally involved in some way were allowed in the house lest they do not fit the bill.

Clause 1.10 (b) [5] – No holy books. Makers will provide them

No celebrity is permitted to carry any reading material inside the house .This season Soni Singh carried her scriptures which was confiscated thereafter. One must seek permission and notify their requirements like scriptures if any.

Clause 1.11 – No talking with the media about the selection before entering the house

Announcing their participation in the show in Media prior to entering the house is a BIG NO.

Clause 1.13 iii and 1.13 (a) – Fine for leaving the house

The most important clause in the BB contract. If at all the contestant walks out of the house, he/she is penalised with Rs 50,00,000 which was the reason of ex-lovers Kushal and Gauhar return in the last season.
