It is the fact that love stories have provided Bollywood with many hit films. And one film which Bollywood fans love to watch multiple times is ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ which was Aditya Chopra’s directorial venture. Released 19 years ago it still remains the longest running movie in Indian cinema. While many films can be made seeking inspiration from this movie, it is difficult to remake such a classic movie. In fact a sequel may sound interesting but not a remake! There are few such classic movies which were so perfectly made that remaking will definitely be a bad option.

It was a typical love story of a poor boy who falls in love with a rich girl. Directed and produced by Raj Kapoor, the movie was hit in India as well as Russia.

Mera Naam Joker:

 

 

It is a timeless classic which should never be remade. It was also a debut film of Raj Kapoor’s son Rishi Kapoor.

Silsila:

 

 

It is said to be based on the real life love story of Amitabh and Rekha. Directed by Yash Chopra, ‘Silsila’ was the last film to feature Amitabh with Rekha putting an end to their on-screen popularity and off-screen affair forever.

Deewar:

 

 

Another Yash Chopra film starring Amitabh and Shashi Kapoor. It was a crime- drama and was a super hit at the box office.

Sadma:

 

 

This was a remake of a Tamil movie Moondram Pirai. Though the film didn’t fare well at the box office it is considered as a classic movie with outstanding performances from Kamal Hassan and Sridevi.

Mr. India:

 

 

It was a movie for people of all ages. Sridevi and Anil Kapoor’s on-screen chemistry in this movie was loved by all.

Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro:

 

 

Kundan Shah’s ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’ was a movie on corruption in Indian politics, bureaucracy, media and business. The film was not an immediate success but was eventually regarded as a cult classic.

Maine Pyar Kiya:

 

 

This film brought super stardom to Salman Khan. It is regarded as one of the most romantic films of Bollywood.

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge:

 

 

This iconic movie which was so perfect and impressive in its execution that nobody can even think of remaking it. This blockbuster romantic saga which has completed 1000 weeks since its release was a landmark in the careers of Shahrukh Khan and Kajol.
