Bhakshak is a 2024 Indian Hindi language crime thriller film based on the Muzaffarpur shelter case. Directed by Pulkit and produced by Gauri Khan and Gaurav Verma under banner Red Chillies Entertainment, the film stars Bhumi Pednekar, Sanjay Mishra, Aditya Srivastava and Sai Tamhankar. It premiered on Netflix on 9 February 2024.

 

This is a movie based on a true story, one that was very much in the news when it happened. It highlighted the misuse of power, the abuse heaped on society’s most forsaken (orphan girls) by the very people who were hired to nurture and care for them. All of this was investigated and bought to light by a feisty, super smart and independent journalist. and Bhumi Pednekar bought this role to life.
